Preparing an SVG in Inkscape for Embroidering Digitizing In V6 Software BERNINA
Hello everyone. Clint Seeley here. In this next tutorial, I’m going to show you how to take the owl SVG graphic that we found on Google Images and import it into a program we call Inkscape.
Now if you remember, Inkscape is the free vector-editing program that I had you all download and install in the previous tutorial. So that should already be on your computer. If it’s not, go back and reference that tutorial and go ahead and download and install Inkscape.
If you’ve done that on your desktop, there should be a little icon right here called Inkscape that looks like this. I want you to go ahead and double click on that and that will load the Inkscape program. All right. Here’s Inkscape and I’m going to maximize the size by clicking that box.
When it opens up, don’t let this discourage you. Oh great, I have to learn a new program. Look at all of these features. I’m only going to cover with you one at a time the features that are necessary to take that SVG graphic and really prepare it correctly for digitizing. So we don’t have to learn all of this.
All right. Let’s move our mouse to the right and just hover over this little icon and it’s the same way with all the icons. If you hover over an icon inside the Inkscape program and stop, a little dialogue box will pop up and it will tell […]

Finding Good Quality Images for Embroidery Digitizing Using Google Image Search BERNINA V6
>>Transcript
Hello everyone, Clint Seeley here. In this short tutorial, I want to discuss going on the internet, specifically Google, and searching for photos. Not photographs, probably artwork. We’re going to be searching for artwork that we can use for inspiration and for embroidery digitizing.
So I’m going to show you some tips and some tricks on how to really get out there and find some good quality artwork that you can convert into embroidery digitize.
A short disclaimer, what I’m showing you in the Google Images search result, you might find some stuff that’s copyright protected. We want to try to stay away from that stuff. However if you do use something that’s copyright protected only for your own personal use at home, you don’t have to worry about copyright infringement. You start selling things, that’s a completely different story. So, head on over to Google. Once we’re at Google, I want you to go up and hit the little Images tab here. Get yourself to Google Images and it’s going to say “images” underneath.
Now I’ve been told that owls are really big right now. It’s kind of a trending thing. My fiancée told me this. It’s big with babies right now, owls. I do a lot of that kind of stuff. So let’s just start off with owls. They’re cute. So I’m going to type in “owl” and hit Enter and what we’re going to see is a lot of photographs […]

Designer Plus version 6 – Auto-digitizing using vector based graphics.
Topics we will cover
1. What are vector graphics?
2. What type of vector graphics can I work with?
3. Installing Inkscape on my computer
What is the difference between Vector & Bitmap Graphics?
Basically, Vector Graphics are not made of pixels and are simply mathematical point and paths. Bitmap graphics are made of pixels and contain a lot more information than vectors. This means Bitmap graphics, like jpeg, cannot be blown up to a very large size and remain crisp and clear…Vectors are scalable and can be blown up to very large billboard sizes and never loose quality.
This picture will give a good visual reference.
Why would I want to use vector graphics in Designer Plus 6?
Vector graphics are very clean and will need very little to no preparation before converting to embroidery. If you begin the digitizing process with the correct type of vector, digitizing will be a breeze.
There are many types of vectors but we will on be using 4 different types
1.CDR & CMX – This is the preferred type of vector to use as it is a native vector file for coreldraw.
2.SVG – These vectors are becoming more popular every day and access to 1000′s of free svg graphics is a big reason to use SVG. Designer Plus cannot open an SVG, but we can convert an SVG into a vector graphic that designer does like. We will be covering this technique in this tutorial
